First Week of “The Journey”

WEDNESDAY – Warm-up use the Africa by region map or use the complete Africa map  to refresh your knowledge of the countries of Africa. If you use the 2nd option, take a screen shot (Google “how to” on your device) of your best time at 100% to share with the rest of us.

  • A survey to see how you are connecting and what your learning interests are.

  • A tutorial for accessing distance learning resources using the tab above.

  • A tour of a new platform for sharing what you are learning – aka presentations 🙂

THURSDAY – Don’t forget to practice your Africa countries!! Use the complete Africa map.

Activity – Thursday 2/27 to Friday 2/28 the speech writing phase. Students are required to prepare a verbatim script of what they plan to say. This can be word processed, printed, and handed in when they are ready to give their speech. Students will receive a grade for their script. (20 points)

Week of February 17th

MONDAY – NO SCHOOL

WEDNESDAY – Warm-up: Africa by regions – Use your resources – don’t just guess!!

Activity – Before watching the videos, look at the Silk Road Map to orient your understanding. Notice there are both land and sea routes.

Take out your notes from yesterday.

Draw a line under the notes you took yesterday. Put yesterday’s date in the margin. 2/18/20

While watching part 2 and 3 of  The Chinese Silk Road today, look for more examples of indigenous culture and cultural diffusion.

Write down ANY unknown vocabulary words, “ah ha” moments (connections) or “I wonder” questions that come up.

MONDAY – Warm-up: Africa by regions – Use your resources – don’t just guess!!

ACTIVITY – “Nuts and Bolts” day – follow this prioritized list.

  • Print your argumentative paragraph and hand in. Make sure your name is on it.
  • Add your continents and oceans data to the My Geography Knowledge Progress spreadsheet.
  • Take a picture of your adopted country landforms map and post it to your digital portfolio
  • Review for tomorrow’s trial.

TUESDAY FRIDAY Warm up – Africa by regions – Use your resources – don’t just guess!!

Activity – Sorry – mock trial postponed – The Honorable Judge D is resting in his chambers. Trial will be February 11th.

Alternate activity – We will begin the argumentative paragraph today. Should we continue to celebrate Columbus Day? Directions are posted in Google Classroom. Print it and hand in on Friday! MAKE SURE YOUR NAME IS ON IT!
